1. Works the same as a gas cigarette lighter. Flint strikes spark to light gas.
2. Piezoelectric. A special crystal is struck by a spring and produces an electric spark.
3. A battery powered circuit produces a pulse of electricity which is magnified by a transformer to be paid a spark.
