Should citizens contained by the west direct and start clearing insensible wood (aka kindling) to protect their community?

Answers:
They are already supposed to remove brush from property- you can be fined when you don't. The biggest problem is that the areas are densely populated, so it's graceful for a fire to jump from house to house.
yes,
some areas, like california with the eco issues actually restricts cleaning stuff up, but specifically how you help prevent fires like we are seeing

the other issue is dead wood within tree tops. Tree fires are most frightening for the speed at which they can spread even in light winds,

I hope that more places will do this to prevent the destruction of the forests as we saw
THEY SHOULD NOT ONLY DO THAT IN THE WEST, BUT THROUGH THE ENTIRE COUNTRY. THE ENVIRONMENTALISTS SHARE A GREAT DEAL OF THE BLAME SINCE THEY ARE OPPOSED TO CUTTING OF ANY KIND INCLUDING DEAD TREES.
There's an interesting little min-movement going on in California. Got some friends out there I've hear this from. So nothing formal to give you.

Basically the idea is to shift after the EPA and Sierra Club for violating of Constitutional Rights. They were the ones behind the debar on clearing deadwood and overgrowth. That ban leads to a dramatic increase in the devastation of unreserved fires. Which leads to more property loss and potential loss of life. Both of those violate the individual's Right to the Pursuit of Happiness and, potentially, the Right to Life.

Regardless of how that turns out, the ban is inane. That dead foliage only serves as fuel for the fires. The fires burn hotter, faster and for longer periods of time. As a result, more live foliage is burned because of the command. There is no way to justify the ban as somehow apt for the environment. And it is directly leading to more damage and loss of property. The ban desires to go away. Now.

xenypoo: Start a fire in fireplace. Is it easier with the kindling? Yes. That's the point. Without the unresponsive fuel, the fires would take longer to heat up and spread. Would removing the dead foliage prevent the fires? No. But it would drastically slim down the area the fires affect.
From what I understand that would be illegal because it's protected underneath one of the environmental laws .
If they're allowed to.. Yes.

The truth is that these fires .. well, not the fires themselves, but the severity of the fires .. can be blamed on whacko environmentalists. Every time someone in California suggests thinning out the brush that fuels these fires you hold some environmentalist screaming about kangaroo rats or field mice or some such nonsense. I can remember tons years ago there was a community outside of Los Angeles that wanted to clear the brush that abut their homes. The environmental moonbats said no .. they went to court and managed to prevent the creation of a fire break. One homeowner told the eco-radicals to take a trudge, and created his firebreak anyway. While the tree huggers were fuming, along came the fire. Can you guess which was the simply home in the neighborhood that didn't burn down?
It's not safe to do so but. But since people have bonded so much here, they will join together to verbs any mess. Now there are 3 suspects for arson, so to blame kindling as the cause in wrong on your piece.
Maybe they could hold a weenie roast or burn a witch at the stake.

The best thing they could do is not to build their houses in areas that burn every other year, duh.
The people who lost their homes ought to sue the localities that passed the ridiculous laws that prohibit people from taking management to protect their own homes.
Only in California, where it's illegal to collect kindling, clear dense forests and create burn zones.
It would greatly reduce the catastrophic wildfires. Environmentalists have be fighting about this for years though. They don't want a tree or a shrub cut down. They would rather your house burned... Source(s): I am a wildland firefighter...
