Amazon Kindle: Worth the price?

I want an ebook reader, but they have always been prohibitively expensive. The Kindle is $400 (as much as a playstation or an xBox), and adjectives it does is read books and download reading materials.

Is it worth it? How easy is it to read free materials downloaded off the internet?
Answers:
I think it's worth it. But if you think the amount of books you read per year and how convenient it would be to own them on the go is worth $400, then you should buy it.

I personally find it difficult to read materials downloaded rotten the internet, and the kindle could be a solution to that problem.
I would say it's a waste of money considering it's atrotious design and the amount of standard material available online for free. Whenever I want to read something I keep it "old school" and lately go to Amazon's site and buy their used books.
Only you can determine if it is worth the price.
If you travel a lot and involve to carry a lot of books and would rather own them on one device; If you subscribe to a newspaper like NY Times or Wall St. Journal in adornment to reading ebooks it may be worth it to you.

How much is convenience worth to you?

To me, I can't justify the price when I read about 30 books per year and buy most of those books used at around 50 cents a copy. Also I don't take mass transportation to work so I can't read while I am driving anyway.

I would be of a mind to fork over a hundred bucks for the device just to have the convenience of being competent to read a book and turn the page with one hand and being competent to adjust the font size would help me read faster for some of those tiny print mass market paperbacks.

Maybe in a year or two when the price comes down and some hack ebooks turn up on the internet (Shhhh!) I would definitely consider buying the kindle.
dunno
