The Kindle's Life?

This is a very expensive device that i would surely love to have. I would need to buy several books surrounded by order to make a saving on my investment. However if it is close to an Ipod and breaks down in one year. Then that would be disappointing. Does anyone know how long the Kindle lasts and about its warranty?
Answers:
I don't know, but from what I own read about it you can't buy books from other sites and read them on the Kindle, and when you buy a book from the kindle site you can't read them with any other device or keep them on your computer.

In other words, when the kindle dies, you lose adjectives your books. And if this, like every other ebook reader, doesn't work out well, we're going to be stuck with a limp reader.
I saw a review today and the reviewer wasn't totally impressed. He said the control buttons were sort of troublesome and the battery life shoddier he'd want and on top of that there is some kind of issue almost having to turn it off remotely?and his thought was roughly speaking falling asleep and waking up with it dead. If the battery-operated life were longer and a few features done better he might like it better but he feel the perfect e-book reader has not been made. There, I found it...you can read it yourself. Hope that help...it's all I've run into yet.
