What is so great around the "kindle"?
My mom wants one for Christmas, and I just want to know what exactly it does. I know it's 400 dollars on amazon.com.
Answers:
Absolutely NOTHING. It's a money sink. Do you think it's a coincidence they released it just before Christmas? Might as all right buy her the Nutcracker HIllary Doll.
Kindle is ugly and unwieldy, but that's just details. The biggest problem is that Americans read less than 1 book a year, but the Kindle's target consumers are general public who are bookworms and who read literally dozens a year. Unfortunately, those people are most resistant to such tech fads and they prefer the old fashioned book.
Oh sure, I'm sure at hand will be few people which will run out and buy it for Christmas, but will they be using it a year from now? My guess is no.
Some other cool features, you can access wikipedia, and a dictionary.. for when you come across a word you don't know you can look it up right in attendance. Also you can further research a topic on wikipedia without having an internet connection.
I also approaching that you can read the first chapter of a book right on the kindle before you can purchase it.
It's main factor is that it is a convenience item, not necessary, but markedly convenient.
You can download books, blogs, newspapers, magazine, etc. directly onto the Kindle, which stores tons of information. This way, you can have a book available at the touch of a button, and if you travel, you don't have to pack any bulky books. It's a huge space depositor, since you don't have to buy each book (you just pay cheque a fee per download), and you don't have to be stuck at your computer to read a paper or a blog--you can bear it with you for when you're stuck at appointments, during lunch time at work, if you just want to go to the park and read, etc.
