What is so special nearly a kindle?
I am an avid book reader and was looking to purchase the amazon kindle. Since i haven't seen them in stores i haven't really have the opportunity to look at it, besides internet pictures and advertisements. My question is the kindle worth buying? Based on the pictures it seems bulky and robust. In my opinion if i wanted someting bulky and heavy i'd a moment ago read the book. I also heard Sony came out with a reader as powerfully. Which one is better? Also once i purchase a kindle for $300 i would still have to buy the books right? so is it worth buying something for $300 to help me read a book, that I could read only just as good, by only spending $19
Although I love electronics, but I can't see the purpose of it.

Yes, you can pass around a small library! Search the internet AND download more books on the go
I don't know what's so special about it. My friend has one, and she keeps relating me how much money she's saving, but I think she's crazy.
Personally, I really don't see how reading from a Kindle is as fun as reading from an actual book made from paper.
I own the Kindle 2, so tolerate me give you some of my opinions. I've to say I I love it! I reckon I've read over 20 books with my Kindle, no glitches so far!
One of the reasons I love my Kindle is that it has help me improve a lot on my efficiency and utilize my time. Before I enjoy the Kindle, waiting time like when I'm waiting for friends or waiting for shuttle bus or some thing like i.e. simply wasted. Now I just need to bring the Kindle 2 along beside me, and all my favorite books are inside it. Another thing I like the most is the text-to-speech function, which medium I can "read" books without even holding or looking at the Kindle. Now I like to use this function when I've myself busy on some boring things, say when I'm on the step tool or doing some housework...
I like reading and at the beginning I missed a bit on the feeling of reading books. But in a minute I love to hold the Kindle, the e-ink seems to work very well, it is really resembling reading books... Now I often read with the Kindle for several hours but I don't feel tired...
And lately in case you don't know, Kindle books, magazines and the Fourth Estate are cheaper than the actual paper version. Amazon also provides quite greatly free or very cheap books. I remember I read these reviews about the benefits of the Kindle when I decided to buy it:
http://www.speedreaderxreview.com/is-kin…
http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i…
Finally, you are lucky that Amazon purely announced a price slash on the Kindle 2. It is now selling $60 cheaper than the price I got my Kindle...
Don't go for the Sony Reader. Books are more expensive and some Sony Reader owners complain that it is difficult to find even some popular books for the Sony Reader. Amazon is doing much better on this, the number of books available is huge and is preserve on increasing.
Hope it helps :) Source(s): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00154J… (Kindle 2 sales page)
well i find it completely awesome. some people don't approaching it because you can't really see ahead of what you're reading... but you can highlight and write notes and there's this text-to-speech thing which read to you and the voice sounds normal! also you do have to pay for paperwork but if you buy alot of books its worth it for the books are only 2-8 dollars. a hard stern would be 8 dollars and a paper back would be 2. there are over 300,000 books avaible (new and old) and you can download in a minute! there is interenet connection and you have a free dictionary/wikipedia and seriously of other stuff. it also recommends books to you (from amazon) and is an easy purchase.. all you enjoy to do is push the button and the book downloads. also it saves your work where you left rotten (and you don't have to turn it off.. you can put it in sleep or you can turn it sour.)
also the older books (like dracula, pride and prejudice - classics from earlier times) are free! so you can have approaching over 200 books on your kindle! and there's prob a way to delete them too...
i havent looked at the sony but we have the kindle and so do a few other people i know. i love it and its so fun to use! i would suggest it to anyone who loves to read.
It's probably a combination of the facts that it's so tiny and can hold so many books, that Amazon.com stores adjectives of your e-books online for you, and the screen. I've seen both versions of the Kindle to date (1.0 and 2.0), and to be honest I'm really not that excited. I really prefer have hard copies. Aside from borrowing library books for free, as you said, it's possible to get many and assorted good books for that $300, not to mention the cost per book or subscription through Amazon. I don't plan on getting an e-reader any time in the near adjectives.
I love my Kindle 2 very much. If you are thinking of buying a Kindle, I'll articulate get it and you won't regret. Since Amazon provide books for the Kindle cheaper than actual books, it has saved me reasonably a lot of money. Right now I've read over 10 books with the Kindle, and I really close to the idea that I can bring and store all the books beside the handy device. Besides, it uses the e-ink technology, so even I read with the device for long hours, I don't feel tired. My only complaint is the white luggage, right now all the Kindles are in white color... I expect it will be cool if I can have a black or deep blue color Kindle ;)
I'll suggest you to read this review from a top reviewer, it outlines quite plentifully of benefits of the Kindle and also why it is worth especially at the end of the review:

Hope this helps.
