Should I seize a kindle for my aunt who can't see in good health?
I was looking up information about the kindle, but I can't tell weather it have a larger print option for people who have a complicated time reading? My aunt can't see well, but the optometrist told her that glasses wont help.. which is weird and wonderful, but that is what she told me. Her husband is a marine, so she has pretty honest health care, so I know she isn't lying. I just don't know what I can do to serve her. She loves to read, but hasn't been able to lately, so is buying her a kindle a good impression?
Answers:
first you need to know exactly what her problem is. Does she have cataract? Does she have low light vision? Is she going blind? How long have she had this condition (will it worsen quickly?). Glasses only assistance until you get to a certain age and then eyeglasses won't clear it up anymore. AI person could try lasic and then reading glasses. Or it could be a business of needing cataract surgery (I think the doctor will operate up thru about age 77 if you're within good health).
If her vision is blurry then that can't be help with anything you can buy but if she could see with a small magnifier for words, a page magnifier, large print on the computer (that can be in tune or get a program to do that) or if her vision is low then she can hold a bright light directed on her reading material. If it's a problem where she's going blind later maybe she could learn braile or maybe would prefer a short time ago listening to the radio.
It'll be a wonderful gift for your aunt!
My grandmother cannot see well too. But she like to use my Kindle 2 to read books aloud to her. I can see that she enjoy the "reading" time very much...
There is a very good review more or less the text-to-speech function of the Kindle 2 here:

Hope this helps. Source(s): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00154J… (Kindle 2 homepage)
I own the Kindle 2 and I like it very much. Yes, there are six font size you can choose for the Kindle, and I have a sneaking suspicion that it will definitely be a great gift for your aunt.
Just read this review from a person who also have aging eyes:

I've also bookmarked an article talking about how to get the most out of the Kindle:

I do regard it is a great chance to get the Kindle 2 at the moment, as Amazon recently announced a price slash on it and it is in a minute $60 cheaper than the price I got mine ($359). So take the chance.
Hope it help :) Source(s): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00154J… (Kindle 2 after price slash)
