Kindle 2 put somebody through the mill, ebooks within Canada from US?

I have a Kindle 2, but I don't have an US credit card. How can I get ebooks short a US address? Or is my Kindle 2 useless for me?

Unfortunately, you cannot get any Kindle ebooks without an US credit card and address, as you can see in the request for information "Is Kindle available to customers outside the United States?" here:

I'm not sure if you can find a U.S. friend to help. The problem will be solved by registering your Kindle with his/her Amazon account. There is a pious discussion about this here:

If you cannot find an Amazon account with US address and credit card, after you cannot buy any books on your Kindle. However, you can still get some free books to read on the Kindle from some websites like this one:
