I am thinking something like buying a kindle, does it transport awhile to download a book?
On Amazon it says it takes 60 seconds to download but i live surrounded by a remote area, so would it take longer (as in 5 minutes?)

If you're talking about downloading to the computer rather than to the device, it could purloin about two minutes though it then depends on your internet connection speed. The process for transferring them from the computer to the device is cumbersome, contained by my opinion. I still have and use an old Sony reader but fixed to try the Kindle when Sony's e-book prices went through the roof. I've only had the Kindle for roughly two weeks, and I think I'm going to return it. It's just easier and quicker to download Kindle books to the iPod Touch.
For what it's worth though, you might want to wait. Sony have a new reader for pre-order right now that will use an AT&T signal and there is going to be a color e-book reader by Asus by the come to an end of the year. Barnes & Noble will also be producing their owner device, but their e-book variety and prices leave much to be desired. Search e-book reader at Switched, Engadget and others. Also, browse online e-book stores and see if your local public library belongs to a consortium that lends e-books. Like music, the undamaged reader concept is dependent on the content, and of course the price of content.
If you do decide to buy the Kindle, here's something to think just about. Amazon does not repair them, which means that if you buy a refurbished one, it hasn't failed. It was of late returned because someone changed his or her mind. Refurbs are only $219 -- that's $80 off!
I've a number of friends having the Kindle. From what I observed, it takes at most 3 minutes to download a book even the exchange cards is not good.

Finally, a good news for you that Amazon have just put a price slash on the Kindle 2, and it is now selling $100 cheaper than the price I got my Kindle... And yes, if you don't mind the refurbished journal you can get it even cheaper. So take the chance.
