Questions give or take a few Amazon Kindle?
Hey everybody, I was thinking about buying Kindle, but I don't really like the hardware, I am more interested within the Kindle Store:
1) How do you browse the Kindle Store before actually buying the device? I want to check which books are available.
2) Are there any other applications that permit you buy books from the Kindle Store? For iPhone or WM, or maybe even for PCs?
Answers:
1) You can just do a search surrounded by the Amazon Kindle store to see if a book is available in Kindle format. Alternatively, just look for the paper text of a book, and it will show the Kindle version in the "Formats" table if it is available. Like this book, it is available in Kindle format:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1416595…
2) You cannot read Kindle books on PC, but you can on iPhone or iPod. However, it is foolish because their screens are too small and they are backlit. Actually, it is not suggested to read too much with electronic devices, other than using ebook reader. I've once read an article mentioning about this here as well:

I also suggest you to read this review from a top reviewer who is also a book lover, it outlines quite closely of benefits of the Kindle and also why it is worth especially at the end of the review:

BTW, there are some website like this one, where on earth you can find more than 20,000 free books for the Kindle. So no need to go to library to borrow them, you can actually own them:

Hope this help. Source(s): I'm a Kindle 2 owner and I absolutely like it
1) Here are all available books surrounded by the Kindle store, sorted by bestsellers:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i…
You can browse with category on the left, or type a book title to search within the Kindle store.
2) You cannot read Kindle books on computer, but you can read them on iPhone. See here for the devices that can read Kindle books:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i…
However, I won't suggest you to use devices other than the Kindle to read. The screen of iphone and ipod are not designed for reading, and they are no good to our eyes especially for long hours of reading.
I own the Kindle 2 and I similar to it very much. I think I've read over 30 books with my Kindle, no glitches so far! Since you're considering to buy it, agree to me give you some more of my opinions.
I like reading and at the origination I did miss a bit on the feeling of reading books. But now I love to hold the Kindle, the e-ink seems to work terrifically well, it is really like reading books... Now I often read near the Kindle for several hours but I don't feel tired... And I now prefer to manage adjectives books inside the Kindle rather than my never big enough bookshelf...
And just surrounded by case you don't know, Kindle books, magazines and newspapers are cheaper than the actual weekly version. Amazon also provides quite a lot free or immensely cheap books. I remember I read this review about the benefits of the Kindle when I decided to buy it:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i…
Finally, a good report for you that Amazon has just put a price slash on the Kindle 2, and it is now selling $100 cheaper than the price I get my Kindle... So take the chance if you want it.
Hope it helps :) Source(s): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00154J… (Kindle 2 after price slash)
