Which is a better buy The Amazon Kindle or The Nook from Branes and Noble?

I'm possibly getting a Kindle type thing for my birthday. When I found out that barnes and Noble came out with the Nook, I be excited. But what I would like to Know is Which one is the better buy. What are the pros and cons between the two of them?
The Nook looks interesting, but my bet will still be on Kindle. There's much more ebooks available at Amazon and there is no "text-to-speech" functionality contained by the new Nook. Many people are complaining about the limitations Amazon have put on the ability to lend books from your Kindle, but you know, Amazon is always quick to adjust, if it make sense. here's a comparison of the 2. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/nook/compa…

the nook is alot better (and nicer looking surrounded by my opinion)

but ebooks for the nook will most likely cost $1-$2 dollars more then the kindle
"> I'm not quite sure, but on the kindel you have to buy every book for $0.99
Since Barnes and Noble page is only mentioning the advantage of the Nook, let me try to detail more about the benefit of the Kindle 2 over the Nook:

- There is no internet browser for the Nook. So even with Wi-Fi, it can only backing you to purchase book. You cannot search for Google, Wikipedia, check email like what you can do with the Kindle.

- The Kindle have text-to-speech function, so it can treat an ebook just like audio book. This function is not present on the Nook.

- The strength of the Nook is that it have color touchscreen. But from the previous experience of Sony Reader, even the latest Sony Reader touchscreen makes the screen look daggers compared to non-touch screen. I'm not sure how technology goes, but since most ebooks are just black and white, I'll still shift for the renowned Kindle screen...

- Amazon is already doing some change after the Nook is released. They dropped the price of their International Kindle even further. And they are going to release a PC software which can read their Kindle books. With the popularity of the Kindle already in U.S., I believe they hold the ability to overcome any challengers... So for me, I'll still go for the Kindle. At most minuscule books are cheaper and mostly like books for Nook will be at least $1 - $2 more expensive than the Kindle books.

I recommend this article as well, it is the best review on ebook reader I've ever read:
