Iphone or Kindle (Nook)?
Which one should I get? Want to read books on it but like one device for everything as well. Is an ereader that much better than reading on the iphone?
Answers:
If ebook reading was my main interest, I would get the kindle.
The eyeshade is bigger and it doesn't have a backlight which gives me a headache (whereas the iphone always uses a backlight).

If the ebook reading be just an occasional thing, I might considering another device like a blackberry.
Yes, the screen of iPhone is too small for reading. It is backlight so it is not suitable for reading too. Get an ebook reader if you plan to read slightly a lot with it.
Between the Kindle and the Nook, I've looked into comparison between them. From the official page of B&N, here is how the Nook compares next to the Kindle:

Since Barnes and Noble page is only mentioning the advantage of the Nook over the Kindle, let me try to enlighten more about the benefit of the Kindle 2 over the Nook:
- There is no internet browser for the Nook. So even with Wi-Fi, you can only use it to purchase book. You cannot do inquiring in Google, Wikipedia, check email, etc., like what you can do with the Kindle.
- The Amazon Kindle have international free 3G wireless which covers over 100 countries. So even if you're in places like the UK or Australia, you can access the internet with the Kindle free of charge. The Nook have wireless only within the U.S., and is limited for use of buying books singular
- The Kindle is available outside the U.S. (it ships to 176 countries), while the Nook only ship within the U.S. at this moment.
- The Kindle has text-to-speech function, so it can treat an ebook resembling audio book. This function is not present on the Nook.
- Amazon is already doing some change after the Nook is announced (still more than one month for it to be available). They dropped the price of their International Kindle even further. And they are going to release a PC software which can read their Kindle books.
Finally, one thing to be aware is that, at first partial view you may think the Nook can read ebooks with color touch screen. But indeed the color touch peak is only a small screen beneath the greyscale eink screen, and seem it is only used to browse the cover of ebooks.
In my opinion, it is a tie between the Kindle and the Barnes and Noble. But since you travel every summer, you should go for the Kindle for sure for the free internet access outside the United States. Moreover, I trust the Kindle will come up near some strategies very soon, like improving their lend book function. The Kindle is the biggest player in the ereader market right now, and I believe it will put immense effort to hold its position.
I recommend this article as well, it is the best review on ebook readers I've ever read, from a entity who has tried a number of ebook readers:

Yes, ebook reader are much better for reading.
I vote for the Kindle too. Read this simple and concise review about it:

iPhone can single be good for occasional reading. If you read quite a lot resembling me, I'll definitely suggest you to get an ebook reader. The screen is much better to our eyes for reading, and it have much more functions specially designed for reading purpose.
I own the Kindle 2. If you ask me to choose again now, I'll still go for the Kindle instead of the Nook, because I think the net browsing function is rather important (the Nook does not have a pattern browser). The free internet (and now it is free international internet) plus the web browser allow me to look for information whenever I'm in inevitability. It is really a cool feature that cannot be missed. And right now it is free for both the U.S. and many other countries, it is newly incredible when you bring it to trip.
I like to use the text-to-speech function on the Kindle too, meaning that I can "read" with my hand and eyes free...
And I remember I read this review when I decided to get my Kindle:

Yes, you can read beside iPhone. There are some application on it that you can read PDF files or so. However, I don't recommend this if you plan to use it for reading quite a lot, because the screen is too small and it is not designed for reading. And since it have backlight, it will hurt your eyes if you read on it for long hours. Just imagine you are reading all the words and paragraph by paragraph on computer screen for a long time, it categorically aren't good for our eyes.
Ebook readers like the Kindle and Nook uses eInk, and it simulate reading experience of reading books. You can read for long hours and you won't perceive tired.
Between the Kindle and the Nook, I'll say the Kindle because the Nook don't have internet browser, and the free internet browsing feature is particularly important.
