Couldn't I buy books from Amazon and put them on the Nook?

I'm a little confused. Since the Nook is going to use an SD card, and since the website says that you can put your own files on it, then shouldn't I be capable of buy books from Amazon and put them onto my computer, then put them on the SD card and then put them on the Nook?

I'm just wondering, because I already own several ebooks and I want to know if I'll have to buy them again from B&N or if I should just be getting a completely different ereader.

(I really, really don't want to get a kindle. I know they didn't remove masses books from peoples readers, but still.. it just leaves a bad sense...)
"> No... Actually Amazon protect their ebooks with DRM so you cannot convert them to other format. See here for the devices that can be used to read Kindle ebooks:

BTW, the ebook removal problem is settled, and Amazon has agreed never to do it again:

Personally, I'll still choose the Kindle, because the Nook doesn't have a net browser... You can read here, which is the best review I've ever read about ebook readers:

Their should be a way to do it..the formats are going to be at variance. So you would need a converter that could read both formats... You need to find out what type of format the nook will accept.for instance word documents are .doc and pocket word is .psw..you would own to import the document into Word or an other word processor or converter that can read the kindel format then convert the file format to one that nook can read and liberate the document in your computer in a readable format, then verbs the document onto you SD card and insert the card into your nook and it should be able to read it.
